Many Chinese hold certain customs and beliefs about the Moon Festival:
中秋節這個闔家團圓的大日子，背後隱藏著好些可愛的趣事，你聽過嗎？
1.A girl steals a green onion any way she can so she can finally marry a good man.
偷著蔥，嫁好尪；偷著菜，嫁好婿。根據習俗，未婚少女若在中秋夜偷得別人菜圃中的蔬菜，不久，她們將會找到如意郎君。台語中，「蔥」與「尪」、「菜」與「婿」為同音異義字，主要是借音取義。
2.A married woman, who wants a son,
steals a melon to have one.
偷挽瓜，生後生。婚後尚未生小孩的婦女，在中秋節晚上，到人家菜圃裡偷摘一個瓜抱回家，據說隔年就可生個胖娃娃。
3.Eating rice noodles with taro helps one find a nice job soon.
吃米粉芋(芋頭、炒米粉)，有好頭路。中秋節供拜「米粉芋」，是取芋、路的台語諧音，目的是在祈求祖先保佑自己找到好的工作。
4.On Moon Festival Night, the later you sleep, the longer your parents will live.
中秋夜越晚睡，父母越長壽。
5.The“moon walk”is to walk in and appreciate the moonlight.
「走月亮」或「踏月」。中秋夜晚，秋高氣爽，明月當空，大家到郊外散步賞月，盡興而歸，俗稱「踏月」或「走月亮」。
